Isaiah 5:18
What happens when ambition outruns wisdom? Absalom chased power with charm, rebellion, and strategic brilliance—but it all ends with his hair tangled in a tree and his life cut short. His death is brutal, yet David’s response isn’t relief—it’s grief. “O my son Absalom…” he cries, because love doesn’t shut off just because someone fails. This is where justice and heartbreak collide. We often carry pride like it’s strength, dragging our need to win, to be right, or to impress. But God isn’t fooled. He sees through every polished appearance and invites us to lay it all down. His way is not the easy way—it’s the honest one. Absalom’s story warns us: unchecked ambition can destroy what love was meant to restore. May we choose a different path—the one marked by humility, mercy, and surrender. Because when we fall apart, God doesn’t walk away. He stays.
