2 Samuel 22:40
What happens when God’s people turn on each other? In 2 Samuel 2–3, Israel is torn in two—Judah follows David, while the rest of Israel follows Saul’s son. What begins as political division erupts into bloodshed. Brother kills brother. Ambition masks itself as loyalty, and grief deepens as the kingdom fractures. This isn’t just ancient history. We still see division—in families, churches, and nations. The story reminds us: not every fight is worth winning. God’s strength isn’t given to fuel civil wars of ego, but to build bridges, restore peace, and choose obedience over pride. Sometimes the fiercest battles are internal—our desire to be right, to be first, to be honored. But God’s way is different. He strengthens those who seek unity, not victory at any cost. When division tempts us, may we remember: the better war is always for peace.
