Psalm 34:18
Have you ever felt overlooked or unseen—even by those closest to you? In 1 Samuel 16:1-13, we witness God sending Samuel to anoint a new king from Jesse’s sons. One by one, the obvious choices pass before him. But God reminds Samuel: “The Lord does not look at the things people look at… the Lord looks at the heart.” It wasn’t the oldest, strongest, or most impressive son—it was David, the one tending sheep, who was chosen. Why? Because his heart was aligned with God. Today, we’re bombarded with standards focusing on status, success, and image. But God sees through it all. He honors faithfulness in the quiet places, obedience when no one is watching, and a heart fully surrendered. If you’ve felt unseen, remember: God sees you. Your quiet faithfulness matters. Keep walking with Him—He often chooses the humble to carry out His greatest plans.
