Isaiah 50:8
What do we do when our kindness is mocked instead of returned? King David sent condolences to a mourning prince, but instead of gratitude, his messengers were humiliated. What followed wasn’t petty revenge—it was a defense of honor, dignity, and the people David was entrusted to lead. He understood that silence in the face of public disgrace could demoralize a nation. His response wasn’t about ego but about protecting those who bore his name. Today, we often face rejection when we extend ourselves in good faith. It’s tempting to hide, stay quiet, or let shame define us. But like David, we’re called to act—not with vengeance, but with courage rooted in God’s justice. When others mock our kindness or values, God sees. He doesn’t abandon those who bear His image. Our dignity isn’t found in how others treat us but in how He defines us: seen, known, and upheld by His righteousness.
