Romans 12:17
What do you do when you have every reason—and opportunity—to strike back? David stood inches from his enemy in a dark cave. Saul was hunting him down, yet here he was—unaware, vulnerable, at David’s mercy. But instead of seeking revenge, David chose restraint. He understood that power isn’t proven through retaliation, but through obedience to God. This moment revealed what kind of king David would be—not one who takes justice into his own hands, but one who trusts God to set things right. In our daily lives, we often face situations where we’re tempted to repay hurt with hurt. But like David, we’re called to a higher road. Holding back from vengeance doesn’t make us weak—it makes us free. God sees every wrong done to us. He asks us to trust His timing and His justice. When we show mercy, we reflect the heart of a King who forgives us again and again.
