1 Thessalonians 5:15
How do we face those we’ve wronged? As Jacob prepares to meet Esau, he is filled with fear, haunted by the pain he caused his brother. With Esau approaching with 400 men, Jacob braces himself for possible revenge. Yet, 1 Thessalonians 5:15 encourages us, “See that no one returns evil for evil…but always pursue what is good.” Jacob’s journey shows us that true reconciliation requires humility, courage, and trust in God’s mercy. This story invites us to seek peace, even when we fear another’s response. Rather than reacting out of guilt or defensiveness, we can trust God to work in the hearts of those we approach. When we seek forgiveness sincerely, God can transform even the most broken relationships, guiding us toward peace and restoration.
