Proverbs 16:18
What do we do when success becomes our downfall? Gideon began as an unlikely hero, hesitant and humble. But after defeating Midian with just 300 men, the very victory God gave him became a snare. Instead of gratitude, Gideon drifted into vengeance and pride. He forgot the Source of his strength. It’s a sobering reminder: success can seduce us into thinking we no longer need God. This isn’t just Gideon’s story—it’s ours too. We pray for help in weakness, but how quickly we claim the credit when things go right. Pride creeps in quietly, even under the guise of doing good. Today, ask yourself: Am I pointing others to God or to myself? Keep your heart soft. Every achievement is a chance to glorify the One who made it possible. Let humility, not self-reliance, define your victories.
