After God delivers Israel through him, Gideon retaliates against his own people and sets up a rival altar, drawing the nation back into sin. Pride didn’t appear overnight—but over time, it hardened his heart and blurred his mission. We often think compromise starts with one bad decision, but it’s usually a slow drift—a growing comfort with credit and control. Are there areas where you’ve begun to build your own “altars”? Perhaps a talent, title, or achievement you now depend on more than God? Ask Him to reveal where pride may be quietly shaping your choices. Let your victories remain His, and keep your heart rooted in humility. Leadership without surrender leads to downfall. But leadership in God’s hands brings life.
