Proverbs 3:5
What kings have we crowned in our hearts that distract us from trusting God? Israel’s cry for a king was more than a political move—it was a spiritual rebellion. They wanted to be like everyone else, even if it meant trading divine guidance for human authority. Samuel warned them, but their eyes were set on what they could control. How often do we do the same? We trust our careers, relationships, or finances more than the God who gave them. When we rely on visible strength, we miss out on invisible grace. But even in rejection, God remains merciful. He let Israel choose, but He didn’t abandon them. Today, He does the same for us. He invites us to examine the thrones in our lives and return to His perfect leadership. Let’s let go of what we’ve put in His place—and trust the One who leads with justice, compassion, and love.
