Proverbs 3:5
Have you ever made a promise to God out of fear, not faith? Jephthah was an outcast who rose to lead Israel—but his story turned tragic when he made a desperate vow: “If You give me victory, I’ll sacrifice whatever comes out of my house.” It was a bargain rooted not in trust, but in fear and misunderstanding of God’s heart. That vow cost him dearly and revealed a deeper issue: he didn’t truly know the character of the God he served. We sometimes do the same. When we face pressure, we panic. We try to earn God’s favor, forgetting that He’s not looking for deals—He’s looking for trust. Are you making decisions from anxiety or faith? God doesn’t want your bargains; He wants your heart. Take a breath. Let go of fear. And remember: God is good, and His grace doesn’t have a price tag.
