Amos 5:24
What does it take to stand for what’s right when everyone around you has given in? In Numbers 25, Israel falls into sin with the Moabites, worshiping idols and engaging in immorality. Just when it seems all is lost, Phinehas steps forward with righteous anger, confronting the sin directly. His boldness halts the plague and restores order—but it costs him something. Zeal for God’s holiness is not always comfortable, popular, or easy. It requires courage, discernment, and deep trust in God’s justice. Today, we may not face the same situation, but we are still surrounded by pressures to compromise. Standing for truth might look like speaking up when no one else will, walking away from something enticing but wrong, or calling others gently back to God. Like Phinehas, we are invited to love what God loves and act with integrity—even when it’s hard. Righteousness begins not with outrage, but with a heart aligned with God.
