Psalm 5:4-5
How do we respond when God says, “Not your plan—Mine”? In 2 Samuel 7, David longs to build a temple for God, but instead, God promises David something far greater: a lasting kingdom. David’s offer is noble, yet God redirects it, showing that His purposes don’t depend on human effort but on divine grace. We often try to prove ourselves through projects, goals, or grand plans—believing these secure our legacy. But God isn’t impressed by monuments. He looks for hearts willing to trust Him when things don’t go as expected. Like David, we must learn to receive God’s promises with humility, knowing it’s His faithfulness that establishes our future. Today, pause and ask: where am I striving instead of trusting? Let God remind you that your value doesn’t come from what you build for Him, but from what He’s building in you.
